Pauls Professional Latte Art Competition at MICE

In conjunction with MICE 2019, Australia’s largest and premier coffee show at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, competitors are invited to compete in the Pauls Professional Latte Art Competition.

The competition

The Pauls Professional Latte Art Competition is a competition for baristas to showcase their Latte art skills using milk and espresso coffee.  The competition will be held in two formats :

  1. Entry online via Instagram
  2. In person entry at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE).

 

Three industry experts will judge the competition on behalf of Pauls Professional :

  • Timothy Sweet from San Remo
  • Tess Presso from Unpressed Tess
  • Samuel Taylor from Soul Origin

 

Who can participate?

The competition is open to Australian citizens and residents over 18 years of age. 

 

Is there a cost to participate?

    1. There is no entry fee for the participants
    2. For online entrants, all materials (milk and coffee) will be supplied by the competitor.  Pauls or Pauls Professional milk should be used.
    3. For show (MICE) participants, coffee and Pauls Professional milk will be supplied by Lactalis Foodservice on the stand (stand 48)

 

What prizes do the Pauls Professional Latte Art Champions receive?

There will be four prizes in total.  

First Place – $1000 via EPTOS gift cards

Second Place – $500 via EPTOS gift cards

Third Place – $250 via EPTOS gift cards

Instagram Favourite – $250 via EPTOS gift cards

 

How do you enter the competition?

Online Entries

Online entries are via Instagram.  Competitors must upload a photo or image to their Instagram page of their most creative latte art design (free pour) using Pauls or Pauls Professional milk. The image of the milk must be in the image/photo.  To enter, participants must follow and tag @paulsprofessional and also use the hashtag #paulsmilk #paulsprofessional

Entrant’s Instagram account must be public and not set to private to be eligible.

 

At the show (MICE)

Competitors must come to the Lactalis Foodservice stand #48 and use the provided Pauls Professional milk and coffee/espresso to pour the most creative latte art design into the provided Pauls Professional cup.

The competitors must then upload a photo or image of their Latte art pour to their Instagram page and participants must follow and tag @paulsprofessional and also use the hashtag #paulsmilk #paulsprofessional

The staff on stand will also take a Polaroid image of the competitors latte art and add this to the photo wall.

 

When does the competition start?

The competition commences at 12.01am AEDST on 17/01/19 and closes at 5pm AEDST on 08/02/19. 

Winners will be announced via Instagram and also on the stand at the show on Saturday 9th February, 2019 at 9am AEDST.

 

How does the judging take place?

All judging will take place via the uploaded Instagram images.

 

First, Second, Third Place Prizes

Competitor Free Pour designs will be judged on contrast, symmetry, balance and difficulty of design, with a first, second and third place awarded based on these criteria.

No stencils, etching or additives such as chocolate may be used or the entry will be deemed invalid.

Judging will be conducted by the industry experts – scoring is at the discretion of each judge and the scores will be final.

 

Instagram Favourite Prize

Instagram favourite is judged by the public, and will be measured on amount of likes/shares and comments on the uploaded and tagged image/photo.

No stencils, etching or additives such as chocolate may be used or the entry will be deemed invalid.
