Innovation tailored to you: When convenience, expertise and a vision to offer the best foodservice dairy range combine!

The past two years have been strange for many foodservice businesses, with lockdowns, outbreaks, and working from home changing the way people live and eat.

But Lactalis Foodservice has not let the pandemic slow it down. The dairy supplier has kept busy supporting customers and innovating with ten new products this year… so far!

“Our main highlight as a major supplier to the foodservice industry has been our opportunity to support our customers through what has been the toughest trading environment they have ever faced,” says Scott McTaggart, Marketing Manager Foodservice for Lactalis Foodservice.

“As business partners, we have worked tirelessly to provide as much support as possible to our customers who themselves have been incredibly resilient and tenacious through the difficulties encountered.”

The new products from Lactalis Foodservice in 2021 were all designed with the customers in mind, with an emphasis on making things easier for them and filling gaps in the portfolio.

“The primary focus of our product development is to design and launch products that are specifically tailored to the needs of the foodservice professional. Too often we see suppliers simply put retail products into big containers and refer to them as foodservice, rather than designing them with the unique needs of the foodservice channel in mind,” Scott says.

“Products must be tailored in both form and functionality for the different channels and usages across the foodservice landscape.”

“One of the key benefits of the Lactalis Foodservice portfolio is the breadth of its range, providing core offers across all dairy categories from milk, to cream, yoghurts, desserts, cheese, butter and flavoured milk,” Scott says.

“It is critically important to ensure that customers are able to source all of their dairy requirements with the simplicity of dealing with a single supplier, so Lactalis Foodservice can become their ‘one stop dairy shop’ for all of their dairy needs. This is why the launch this year into culinary butter and cream cheese was so critical for Lactalis Foodservice.”

Lactalis Foodservice invests heavily in product development resources to drive its innovation agenda, with a purpose build R&D facility and pilot plant at Lidcombe in New South Wales as the centre point.

“Our business structure includes foodservice dedicated food science technologists to provide focus and expertise for our channel,” Scott says.

“We also utilise the expertise of our on staff executive chef Chris Mason to provide the customer lens on building and guiding the optimal functionality into our range.”

The new products join Lactalis Foodservice’s existing large portfolio, which as one of the largest dairy suppliers to the foodservice industry, includes iconic names like Pauls Professional, Président Professionnel, Galbani Professionale, Lemnos, OAK, Ice Break, Tamar Valley Dairy, and Vaalia.

Despite the difficult trading environment, Scott says the new products have seen an extremely positive reaction from its customers.

“Demand on launch was strong, however heavily influenced by the difficult trading environments with COVID restrictions and lockdowns,” Scott says. “We look forward to the easing of restrictions in the coming months so our wonderful foodservice industry and customers can once again get back to full capacity.”

As Australia’s foodservice industry returns to form in 2022, Scott predicts this will bring new demands and trends as customers flood back into their favourite restaurants, cafés, bars, and bakeries.

“Innovation is a core pillar in the Lactalis Foodservice business. We will continue to strive to build the best foodservice dairy portfolio rich with products tailored to the needs of the foodservice channel across all dairy categories,” Scott says.

“We understand that trends, tastes, and technologies within the foodservice industry are constantly evolving. As a result, we must ensure that our portfolio evolves through innovation to compliment and stay relevant with industry changes.”
